Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room.
Then this morning, some dude went postal at a construction firm in Alan Grayson's district. I wonder Grayson will add the victim to his ongoing list.
And yesterday afternoon, right around the corner from my place some depressed dude barricaded himself in his apartment and shot himself. Irvine, natch, responded in freak out mode:
Police set up a perimeter several blocks wide around the apartment. There were around 40 squad cars on the scene, along with an armored car, the SWAT team and a helicopter.
Police also set up a mobile command post a few blocks away, at Yale Avenue and the I-5, Boggs said.
About 25 apartment units next door and across from the man's apartment were evacuated, as was the nearby Chinese Cultural Center, Boggs said.
Seven schools in the area were on lockdown from 1:30 to 2 p.m., said Irvine Unified School District spokesman Ian Hanigan.
Shit, I'm surprised Mayor Kang didn't call in the National Guard.
